Line 2 joins Line 1 at San Inazio Station, and from that station to southbound both lines form a common line (from San Inazio Station to Etxebarri Station).
On January 8, 2005, two new stations were opened; Sestao Station (after Urbinaga Station on Line 2) and Etxebarri Station (before Bolueta Station, on the common line) and which today is the terminal station.
On January 20, 2007, Line 2 was extended with two new stations, Portugalete Station and Abatxolo Station, both in the municipality of Portugalete.

On November 11, 2011, one more station was opened in Line 2, Basauri Station and making the end Ariz Station-Basauri Station an extension of Line 2, separated from the common trunk as both Line 1 and Line 2, both in the municipality of Basauri.
